A few items are required. Developer mode is required before you can make any changes to your extensions;

  • Enable it, click the gear icon in the upper right corner of your browser,
  • Then select More tools > Extensions. This will open the Extensions settings box, where you may toggle developer mode.
  • If you’re not running at least Chrome OS version 40, you won’t be able to proceed. To see if you’re running the right version, go to your browser’s settings by pressing the gear icon ( ) at the bottom right of your screen.
  • From there, select “About Chrome OS,” and if you see “Version 42,” you’re good to go.

  • The next step is to make a new directory, so let’s right-click and select “New Folder.” Start by creating a new folder; you can call it anything you choose; I chose “app” because it’s easy to remember;
  • Next, download the Instagram app for your Android smartphone. Okay, so this is the place to go to get the most recent version of the Instagram app, as well as a plethora of other apps, to try out, but we’re just interested in Instagram, so let’s head there. We’ll be using an Android app for today’s demonstration, so I’ll click “download,”
  • And then “you know it’s going to pop up in the corner down here and you know say download complete you know but I cancel it already have that so I’ll just skip that for you guys so once that’s finished downloading, you’ll also need an application from the Chrome Web Store, so you can find that by clicking ,”download,”
  • Then you know it’s going to pop up in the corner down here and Here I press add your app and then you’ll see chill out Instagram for Android there it is right there and it will say a type of files apk all good double click it will open the application and here’s where it gets fun it will say orientation landscape portrait now when you’re on your phone Instagrams and portraits you’re going to swiping left and right to see them both.
  • Leaving the arc welder behind, you would then launch the files app, where you would see, as seen in this particular location, the following message: Instagram, chill out; you have the apk file, but up here you have a folder with the same name; when you install an app with an arc welder,
  • This folder is erased and replaced with the new app, so you’ll lose your Instagram unless you copy the folder from here and paste it into apps; then, it will show up in apps and we can delete this one. Click that, then select “Apps,” scroll down until you find Instagram, click it once, and in the lower right corner, select “Open.” it’s installed,
  • Now let’s fire up Instagram and I’ll show you what it can do; it will remember your login information and other details from now on, so you won’t have to.
  • You can now use Instagram on your Chromebook, Chrome OS device, or any other device running the Chrome web browser. My Internet is a bit slow right now, so the app is a bit sluggish, but you can check out the apps, send direct messages, search for people, view comments, check out your profile, and watch videos you’ve recorded. You can use your webcam to take pictures, too. Um, if you see here, hello folks, alrighty so you can take a picture like that, do that. So we did. The result isn’t great.

I’m not going to share this, but you can use the options there to apply filters, tweak the settings, edit the photo, and generally make me look terrible. Once you’re satisfied with the results, click “post,” and you’ll be ready to share it with your followers, send it as a direct message, or do whatever else you want to do.
